2016 Will Soon Be Gone

Wise words from T.S. Eliot.

Without question, 2016 words in my life were all about becoming my true self. When I read through my journal and look at my bulletin board above my writing desk, this is most definitely the pattern I see. Below are some of the words that have inspired, comforted and lifted my spirit throughout the year.

Becoming my true self continues to be a freeing, God-honouring journey. I’m not sure why it’s taken me 60 years – I guess I’m a slow learner.

I hope and pray that these words will encourage your heart as you step into 2017.

Diane Lindstrom

No need to hurry. No need to sparkle. No need to be anybody but oneself. Virginia Woolf

God had a plan for my life long before anyone had an opinion.

Today I am so grateful that God knows my heart. Others may misunderstand my good intentions, judge my words or deeds, find fault or blame what they truly do not understand. But God knows my heart. He knows I am learning, trying, endeavouring to be all He created me to be.

My brokenness is a better bridge for people than my pretend wholeness ever was. Sheila Walsh

Autumn shows how beautiful it is to let things go.

I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me.

The bad news is that you can’t make people like, love, understand, validate, accept or be nice to you. The good news is that it doesn’t matter.

People come and go in my life, and the right ones will always stay. Loss keeps me soft and authentic.

Choose to be great at being present, great at being kind and great at being you.

It’s all messy. The hair. The bed. The words. The heart. Life. Willian Leal

Only where the Father goes…

When you come to a point where you have no need to impress anybody, your freedom begins. Unknown

She was an adventurer at heart; but oh how she loved drinking tea from this mug in this chair. Oh how she loved to be home.

He knows my name. He knows my every thought. He sees each tear that falls and hears me when I call.

Not everyone will understand your journey. That’s okay. You’re here to live your life, not to make everyone understand.

There’s always a moment when you see how you’ve bent yourself into a shape that fits the people you’ve known and you see how that has to stop and though it’s not always easy, that’s exactly where you begin to find out who you’re meant to be.

I love the person I’ve become. I’ve fought to become her. Kaci Diane

She understood that the hardest times in life to go through were when she was transitioning from one version of herself to another.  Sarah Addison Allen

All things belong.

If God is not changing the circumstances, either He is impotent or this is experience is important to your life.

For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.  Cynthia Occelli

Leave your captivity. Isaiah 52.11
