My husband works for a wonderful company.
Not just because a big parcel with the message, “Chris, thanks for all that you do” was waiting for
me, I mean, Chris at our front door this morning. (See featured image) I’m so sorry that Chris is away until tomorrow. I guess I’ll just have to appreciate this gift basket all by myself. I mean, what’s a chocolate lover to do?
No….it’s more than the present. (But I gotta’ admit, this present is awesome.)
Over the years, I’ve seen this company go beyond the call of duty in terms of generosity, thoughtfulness, creativity and empathy.
And let’s face it – it sure feels good to be appreciated.
Something happens deep within when a person acknowledges your work with, “Well done. We appreciate you.” There’s nothing quite like being appreciated in the work place. A person who is esteemed will always do more than what’s expected and being appreciated is one of the simplest and uplifting things an employee can hear.
There have been many moments when I’ve really wanted to thank my husband’s boss for his authentic concern, his ability to hear more than what’s being said, his encouragement and his freedom to laugh at Chris’ jokes. He’s a good man and as I watch my husband thrive in his work environment, I constantly feel gratitude for his wise and caring leadership.
Let’s face it. People appreciate being appreciated.
Now, if you will excuse me, I’m going to head into the kitchen and nibble on some sweet batter-chocolate-salted-caramel cookies.
It’s going to be a delicious afternoon.
