Last week, I received a precious letter from my 29 year-old daughter. She had written it to me when she was 11 years old. Apparently, seventeen years ago, I went for a run and didn’t return home within the time that I had said.
Dawne recently found the letter hiding away in a drawer full of memories and knew how much I would treasure it. She sent the letter to me by snailmail and I received it the day after Chris’ dad’s funeral. What a wonderful gift to receive during an emotionally difficult week.
The letter brought tears to my eyes. Every time I read it, I tear up.
These are the kind of moments that I grasp onto – they put parenting into perspective – they give “awesome-ness” to life. These are the moments that take my breath away because I become so overwhelmed with the goodness of God and the love of my family.
Love can be so simply expressed, yet so powerfully received.
I encourage you – bask in the simple moments…and have a wonderful weekend!
