SUCH A SWEET GIFT
One of the highlights of my time away was unexpectedly meeting up with a friend.
Debby had seen one of my FB posts that I was in Columbus, Ohio and she responded back with, “I’m in Columbus this weekend too!” but the day got busy and neither of us confirmed that we were indeed attending the same seminar.
I had nestled into a comfortable chair in the seminar room and suddenly, I felt these arms wrapping around me from the back. I turned around and there she was! I can’t put in words the joyous feelings I felt as we hugged each other.
Two years ago, Debby and I connected at a retreat in the States. We spent a week together and thoroughly enjoyed our walks and talks. At the time, I was wearing a bracelet that I really loved and I “got the nudge” to give it to Debby. (People who know me well know that I often give things away that mean a lot to me.) Debby was so touched by the gesture and I believe it was a couple of days later that she gifted me with a beautiful cross that I have cherished and held in my hand many times.
A few months after I gave away the bracelet, I was missing it so much that I tracked down the woman who made it (turned out that she lived in San Francisco) and I bought another bracelet.
When Debbie hugged me from the back and her arms wrapped around me, the first thing I noticed was her bracelet…and I was also wearing my bracelet! Hence, the featured image. 🙂 Neither of us had confirmed that we were going to be at the same seminar so what an unexpected joy to see that both of us were wearing our bracelets at the same time.
Such a beautiful moment of connection.
We shared a wonderful lunch together, catching up on each other’s lives and to be honest, I couldn’t stop smiling during the entire meal. Definitely a highlight of my trip.
Later that day, Debbie tagged me on FB with a picture that she took of us and she wrote: “This surprise was one of the highlights of a blessed weekend in Columbus.”
Totally agree, Debby – you are such a sweet gift in my life.
