Going on a Lion Hunt

This is Bruiser, our captain. He was watching for rocks as we made our way through the shallow water.

What a wonderful way to spend less than 24 hours. Jump in the car, drive north for 2.5 hours, jump into an aluminum boat and head to a comfy cottage, tucked away in the trees.

Lots of mosquitoes, hence the mosquito netting on our walk – looks like we’re going on a lion hunt but it saved us from black flies attacking our heads.

Blankets and wonderful sharing of our lives until early in the morning.

I mean, it doesn’t get much better than this. Friends, tea, blankets, good conversation, warm beds, birds chirping in the early morning, bacon and egg breakfast, long walk, great boat ride. We didn’t get in the water but we sure had fun.

Just being together.

When I returned home, I sent a thank you email to the hostess. Below is a little section of the email.

Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality – it really is genuine and beautiful hospitality. No entertaining…just being yourself, sharing your cottage, letting us be ourselves. It just doesn’t get much better than that.

We are so thankful for the time with you. Unrushed, meaningful time together. A real gift. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful haven with us.

That’s the beauty of friendship, isn’ it? Just being able to be ourselves together.

Vulnerability, tears, silence, laughter, hugs – all while being reminded of God’s creation hovering over and around us.
And over all theses virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3.14
