Chris and I spent a spontaneous and fun-filled evening with neighbours last night. We had such a great time that I wasn’t able to finish the day’s blog until well into the early hours of this morning – not something I do too often but it was well worth it.
Life always comes before a blog post.
Nine of us enjoyed a wonderful meal and then headed to the living room with guitars and percussion instruments. We started slowly and quietly but as the evening progressed, the music and our voices swelled and filled the room with sweet harmonies, a lot of humming to replace forgotten words and some very interesting sounds on the Djembe.
Talk about a walk down memory lane! Here are some of the songs we bellowed out.
All My Life’s A Circle – Harry Chapin
Daydream Believer – The Monkees
This Old Guitar – John Denver
A Horse With No Name – America
House at Pooh Corner – Kenny Loggins
Take Me Home,Country Roads – John Denver
Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin
Father and Son – Cat Stevens
Happy Together – The Turtles
Danny’s Song – Kenny Loggins
It was awesome. We laughed, we sang, we ate cookies and we played some pretty cool rhythm instruments.
We all need lightness in our lives.
I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for the handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it, friends make life a lot more fun.
