Sweeter Every Day

As soon as I opened my eyes this morning, my husband looked at me and said, “Happy Anniversary.”

I’ve been thinking of him all day.

Marriage has sustained my love for Chris –  I love my husband more today than the day we got married (and I didn’t think that was possible!)  Marriage has grown me. Settled me. Taught me about lavished forgiveness and true love.

What I love about Chris:

He desires intimacy with Jesus. There is nothing more secure for me than to see Chris reading his Bible in the morning. When he is taking care of his heart, he is taking care of our marriage.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He fully accepts me as I am. Chris takes me as I am and only wants me to be all God intended me to be – my true self.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He has an incredible sense of humour. Rarely has a day gone by since we met that he has not made me laugh.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He is very considerate. I feel “thought of “ throughout the day.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He listens well. Without giving me any advice, he will say, “I can understand why you feel the way you do.”

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He is a safe person. I trust him with my heart.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He is the best hugger in the world. There’s no place I’d rather be than in his embrace.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He has a generous heart – towards family, friends and those in need. He cares and feels deeply.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

When he does something, he does it well – whether it be his commitment to his customers, vacuuming our house (I’ve never seen anyone vacuum with such commitment to excellence as this man! – I can vacuum this house in ten minutes. Chris takes two solid hours) hanging out with Phoenie, making dinner, fixing “stuff” around the house or playing his bass.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

He is a man of integrity. He is honest, faithful and sincere.

I thank God for giving me Chris.

I have been blessed with eleven years of oneness and when I talk about life with Chris, I often begin to cry because I am so filled with joy . . .

. . . and it just keeps getting better.
