Thank You, Lord

I spent some time listening to praise music this afternoon.

When I listened to this old song, (see below) my immediate response was, “That’s one of the songs I want at my funeral.”  Now, don’t get me wrong – I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about my funeral but unquestionably, I want it to be a time of celebrating my life. Every time I listen to the words of this song, I cry because I am so thankful for my forty four years of life in Christ. The words are simple, yet profound. The tune is upbeat and “sing-a-long-able.”  The focus is on having a grateful heart for all He has done and when I sing, I mean every word.

I had the headphones on when I was singing away and Chris came in to exchange water jugs. He started to laugh because apparently, I was truly making a joyful noise! But you know what?

Who cares what I sound like?

Sometimes, I get overwhelmed God’s goodness. I am truly thankful for all that He has done in my life and I like singing about it.

If I pause to think, I have cause to thank.

Thank You Lord

I come before you today

And there’s just one thing that I want to say

Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord

For all you’ve given to me

For all the blessings I can not see

Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord

With a grateful heart, with a song of praise

with an outstretched arm, I will bless your name

Thank you Lord, I just want to thank you Lord

Thank you Lord, I just want to thank you Lord

Thank you Lord

For all you’ve done in my life

You took my darkness and gave me your light

Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord

You took my sin and my shame,

You took my sickness and healed all my pain

Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord

With a grateful heart, with a song of praise

with an outstretched arm, I will bless your name

Thank you Lord, I just want to thank you Lord

Thank you Lord, I just want to thank you Lord

Thank you Lord, I just want to thank you Lord

Thank you Lord, I just want to thank you Lord

I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 69.30 NIV
