If Chris and I grew a garden just for today, it would have been worth it.
Look at this precious face of a little girl’s first frolic through our garden.
I mean, it just doesn’t get any better than this on a Monday morning.
Today was the first tutoring time with a beautiful little girl who found such delight in the simplest adventure – “let’s check out the garden.” There were so many memorable moments. I wish I could have bottled them up and kept them forever. Ocean was so excited to find this champion cucumber hiding under a big leaf, she could hardly contain herself.
“This is for my mama. She loves cucumbers.”
The little tomatoes were for her little sister.
The peas were for her big sister.
Ocean was one very proud garden picker.
“I’m so happy. I love your garden so much and I learned a lot about vegetables” were her final words as she stood on our kitchen chair, wearing an oversized apron, carefully washing and packing her harvest.
She was pretty excited about making chocolate chip banana bread too. Apparently, she LOVES to nibble on chocolate chips.
When I asked Ocean if she understood what a tutor was, she gave the best answer ever.
A tutor is someone you spend time with and you have so much fun, you don’t even know you’re learning anything.”
What a time of pure joy and Ocean will definitely not forget what a beet is after today. She was also reminded to add up the numbers in the ones column first.
It’s all learning.
You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives. ~Clay P. Bedford
