This Is My Father’s World

That’s my laptop in the corner of the picture because the comfy, leather couch in the living room has become my office.  Whenever my husband takes a break from work in the back room, he walks “into my office” and heads straight to the window. He loves to watch life out on the ice and I enjoy watching him watch life.  (even though he never knocks at my office door!)

This morning, we woke up to a winter wonderland. Big fluffy snowflakes are taking their time landing on the back deck.  Everything around us is calm and beautiful now. It’s like we’ve taken a big breath and exhaled –  finally, there’s no more mud and slush.  Our little world is blanketed with crisp, clean, white snow and it’s lifted our spirits. Even our outside garbage bin looks good because fresh snow has fallen.

I wish we could bottle this serenity.

It’s the perfect day for a warm sweater and a long walk.

…for the world is mine, and all that is in it. Psalm 50.12b

    Hi Diane,

I just tuned into your blog!
Good to see Chris and how he is enjoying the lake in winter.
I remember those crisp sunny days by the Bay – new fallen snow and a fire in the stove – a bit of heaven on earth for sure. So peaceful.
We too had snow today and the dirt has cleared for a short time. Much better to have pets dragging in globs of snow, not mud – unusual winter indeed.
Thank you for a listen to ‘My Father’s World.’
Perhaps Chris has told you it was one of Ali’s favourites and I myself particularly enjoy Amy’s version.
I think I first heard the hymn while standing next to Maimu in church as she sang it so intently…
So thankful He gave us song and the seasons!

    • Hi Julianne! Sounds like this song really does bring back wonderful memories for you…me too! I think I first heard it when I was a very young girl – a camp counsellor sang it to me. I’ve always loved the simplicity of the lyrics. Diane
