“Till The Wheels Come Off”

I received an email from a wonderful friend today…here’s a little excerpt.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day…I think it’s such an overrated day, and it drives me nuts to know that the price of flowers is that much inflated on one day. (My husband) is away so we aren’t really celebrating. Although I did leave a note in his suitcase.

I totally get what she’s saying because in my mind,  it’s the note in the suitcase that really matters.

It’s the day in/day out expressions of love that happen “just because” that speak to my heart. When February 14th rolls around, I always feel pressure to communicate something extra loving but I don’t love my husband any more today than I did yesterday.  I want to continue expressing my love, not go “all out” one day of the year.

My husband was greeted early morning with this strange “love expression” on his office chair, to which he cheerfully responded to…

…but he had no idea what to do with this Dollarama Store delight!

I put a CD in his new bumble bee purse because last week, I heard him listening to a great song and I went searching high and low for that CD. You see, I think it’s the effort and the thought, not the size or the expense. I don’t even want to repeat what he thought of his new plastic heart, XOXOXO key chain!! I’m sure all his guy friends will be jealous.

I want to prioritize my relationship with my husband every day and express my love for him in many ways.

When we got married, we danced to this song.  Today, I’m reminded to love my husband “till the wheels come off.”

Picture in a Frame – Tom Waits

Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Sun come up it was blue and gold
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame.

I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
Every since I put your picture
In a frame

I’m gonna love you
Till the wheels come off
Oh yea

I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
Ever since I put your picture
In a frame

I like your comment about the Valentine’s Day. On my facebook, I typed Happy Valentine’s Day and reminded them to hug and say I love you no matter when, where, why and how often. Since, we are broke, I made my family a special dinner…alfredo fetticuce with shrimp (found the shrimps in the freezer !) and mini cakes with liquid centre. We are so FULL and can barely walk. It is nice that I have time to cook while on job search!
