What is Strength?

A dear friend of mine sent me this clip of a devotional that she recently read.

“The more challenging your day, the more of My Power I place at your disposal. You seem to think that I empower you equally each day, but this is not so. I know what each of your days will contain, and I empower you accordingly. The degree to which I strengthen you on a given day is based mainly on two variables: the difficulty of your circumstances and your willingness to depend on Me for help. Look to me for all that you need and watch to see what I will do.”

Thank you dear friend,  for these words of wisdom.

It’s true. It’s about my brokenness and His strength – sometimes, I get that backwards. When I get up in the morning, my tendency is to “rise to the challenge” rather than “rise to prayer.”  I move, rather than meditate. And when those particularly challenging days unfold, it’s more natural for me to “up” the speed and increase the control.

Strength is acknowledging my broken places and my faulty coping mechanisms  . . .  and giving it all to Jesus so He becomes my Strength, when I am weak.

I need the reminders.

Look to the Lord and His strength: see His face always.                       Psalm 105.4 NIV
